Food Safety StandardsAccording to Article 7 of the “Food Safety Law", the production and operation of food, as well as the use of food additives and food-related products during food production and operation, must comply with food safety standards. The establishment of food safety standards therefore are the important regulatory specifications derived from the “Food Safety Law" to safeguard food safety in Macao. Presently, the food safety standards of Macao are promulgated in the form of legally binding administrative regulations. Food Safety Standard DatabaseThe food safety standard database is an online database with a search function. It is designed to help the trade and the public access the content of relevant food safety standards in a simple, convenient and accurate way. The existing food safety database covers food additives, pesticide residues and veterinary drug residues. Users can view the information they need in the relevant database by using key information such as the name, serial number, food category, etc. of food additives or residues. Trade GuidelinesThe trade guidelines are a series of practical and feasible guidance documents developed in response to the needs of the Macao food trade and the level of food risks to help the trade comply with the various food safety and hygiene regulations of the Macao SAR Government more effectively and adopt proper methods and measures to improve food safety and hygiene level. With the development of food technology, the improvement of the awareness of food safety and hygiene, and the updates of relevant international documents, norms or guidelines, the guidelines issued in Macao are also adjusted and published in a timely manner. Currently, the food safety guidelines that have been published by the Division of Risk Assessment of the Department of Food Safety cover basic management guidelines, food category guidelines, technical numeric guidelines, collective catering and dining guidelines, and seasonal food guidelines, among others. |
