In order to ensure food safety in Macao, the Division of Risk Assessment of the Department of Food Safety collects food safety information published by official or unofficial organisations (such as newspapers, media, academic groups, etc.) from around the world through the food incident monitoring system, carries out analysis and assessment based on factors such as the consumption risk of the food products concerned, their sale on the market in Macao and the degree of attention received, in order to immediately take corresponding follow-up measures if necessary and announce them to the public in a timely manner.

Food Alert

When it is learned that the food concerned in the food safety information poses food safety risks and is highly suspected to be sold in Macao or is of great concern, food alerts are issued to inform the food trade to recall the involved food off the shelves as soon as possible to prevent the food concerned from circulating in Macao and to minimise the risks it may cause.

International News

International news contains food safety information published across the globe on food recalls, food animal epidemic prevention, etc. for the reference of the food trade and the public. The purpose is to keep the trade informed of the latest international food safety information, so that they can take appropriate prevention and control measures as soon as possible when necessary, such as suspending the sale of/recalling the food concerned, preventing it from continuing to circulate in the local market or from entering the local market as far as possible.
