Providing the food sector with quicker and easier access to food safety information
With the world becoming an integrated community that results in ever-increasing varieties and volume of food products entering Macao on a daily basis from across the globe, members of the food sector will be better prepared to respond effectively to emergencies when they are timely informed of the latest international news about food safety. Therefore, IAM will use e-mails to provide the food sector with more of the relevant news about food safety, including international news about food recalls, Macao’s administrative procedures, guidelines and guidebooks for the sector, relevant laws and regulations, etc., with the aim of helping the sector to enhance food safety management. Interested individuals can easily become a subscriber of “E-mail Updates” by filling in their e-mail addresses.
Food safety depends on the trilateral efforts of the government, the food sector and the public. In addition to the monitoring and gatekeeping performed by the government, members of the food sector also need to effectively manage food safety on their part to ensure safe, reliable food sources as well as hygienic handling procedures, and adhere to the relevant laws, regulations and guidelines of Macao. Therefore, it is hoped that through the food safety “E-mail Updates” service, the sector can effectively grasp the food safety trends in Macao and from around the globe for jointly safeguarding food safety in Macao.
