Food Premises Facilities and Food Safety Information Showroom in China Plaza Building

IACM has recently added in food safety information to the displays set at the “Food Premises Facilities and Food Safety Information Showroom” located in the China Plaza Building to better the food sector’s knowledge about food safety and call the attention of its employees to important food safety practices they should observe during food handling and preparation. In the near future, IACM will provide more exhaustive guidance for the food sector to upgrade the food safety standards of Macao through correct food safety concepts and self-discipline of the food industry.

 

The level of food safety knowledge possessed by employees of food industry will directly affect the quality and safety of food since they are at the frontline of food handling. To this extent, IACM has added in information about key points of food safety to the displays set at the “Food Premises Facilities and Food Safety Information Showroom” located in the China Plaza Building. Besides displays of food catering facilities, details that are often overlooked during food handling are listed to call the attention of the practitioners, for example, food must be thoroughly cooked; the core temperature of food must reach 75oC or above; the refrigeration temperature must be below 5oC while frozen food must be stored at or below -18 oC and different chopping boards should be used for handling raw and cooked foods. Moreover, employees of food sector must always observe personal hygiene, and pay attention to cooking time, temperature control and food storage conditions. All these are essential for food employees to learn the correct and proper practices in food preparation and handling.

 

The Showroom is opened from 9:00am to 6:00pm from Monday through Friday, and the public and food sector are welcome to pay a visit. Since food safety is built upon prevention of food hazards, IACM will provide the sector with more informative guidelines on a progressive basis. It hopes to upgrade the food safety standards of Macao through providing the sector with correct food concepts and encourages the industry to be self-disciplined in order to minimize chances of food safety hazards.
